Jurors' note leads to reversal of murder conviction
by Ann W. ParksTwo men convicted of murder and conspiracy for their alleged roles in a 2003 shooting are entitled to a new trial, the Court of Special Appeals held.
Clayton Damon Colkley was sentenced to life in prison plus 50 years for the second-degree murder of James "Buck" Bowens and for conspiracy to murder William Courts.
His co-defendant, Darnell Fields, received a 45-year sentence for conspiracy to murder Courts. The men were tried together in Baltimore City Circuit Court in April and May of 2005. Read more...

A 48-year-old Westminster man was convicted and sentenced to a five-year prison term yesterday in Carroll County Circuit Court on a charge of child abuse in the death of his fiancee's 14-month-old daughter on Thanksgiving Day 2003.
Anthony P. Flakes has been in jail since his arrest and will receive credit for time served. He was incarcerated first in Carroll County and later in Howard County because of reported death threats he had received. read more...
